There will be 7 rest stops along the course providing a variety of solid food, fruits, snacks, and drinks for riders. Three SAG's on the way out, and three on the way back. A roving SAG van will also be available for support.

Each SAG will have: Water, Ice, GU, Energy Bars, Cytomax, Perpetuem, HEED, Accelerade, Fruit, Fruit Juice, Sodas, pretzels.

The Kern River SAG at the halfway point will also have lunch type items such as: peanut butter & jelly sandwich fixins, some type of pasta.

Entire 138 Mile Route

1st 1/2 of Ride Out to Kern River:

Rest Stop # 1 is located at the top of Nine Mile Canyon, 9 miles into the ride.

SAG #2 is located at the Junction of Blackrock Station, 34 miles into the ride. You take a left turn here and head toward Sherman Pass & Kernville.

SAG # 3 is at mile 53, at the top of Sherman Pass, before a 15 mile, 5,000' descent to the Kern River and the turnaround point.  

SAG #4 is located at mile 71 - 2 miles before the bottom of Sherman Pass Rd, after you descend the 15 miles from the top of Sherman Pass. At the bottom of Sherman Pass Rd, turn around and head back up it. Two miles up is SAG #4. You passed it on the way down.

Fuel up well here because you have a 15 mile, 5,000' ascent back up Sherman Pass Rd when you leave! This will take fast riders about 2 hours and slower riders...

2nd Half of Ride BACK to Nine Mile Canyon Rd:

SAG #5 is at around mile 77, halfway up the Sherman Pass Climb.

Rest stop # 6 is at mile 84, at the top of Sherman Pass, after a 15 mile, 5,000' climb back up from the Kern River and the turnaround point.

The last Rest Stop, SAG #7, is the same one at Blackrock Junction, 104 miles into the ride (30 miles from the turnaround point). It's "mostly" downhill from here :)

SAG #7 - Junction Blackrock Station

Your last chance for a break or anything to eat and drink is located at mile 114 (45 miles from the turnaround point) in the very small town of Kennedy Meadows, after descending from Blackrock Station. There a small general store there. If you filled up at SAG #7 you shouldn't need anything here.

Our roving Tour van with attached support trailer will be on the course to assist you. Should you need help you may flag it down at any time. This is also your ride back to the start should you be unable to finish in time.   Riders should be capable of dealing with most common mechanical problems they may encounter during the ride. Mechanical assistance is not guaranteed on the course.
